We are having our little :wings: Christened in July, and I want to bake a light easy sponge cake which I cannot make a flop of...
THEN I want to either cut the cake into a shape (like an Angel or something suitable) OR maybe just bake it in a shaped cake tin... but where on earth do I get something like that...either to rent or to buy?
Any suggestions would help!

If you have a specialised kitchenware shop near you, I'm sure they'd be able to help you.
You can hire from
The Cake Craft Shop at £2 for 3 days. Unfortunately, they're in Kent & it's pick up only for hire items.
Otherwise to buy, it'll cost about £13.99 (
link ) I'm sure you could modify the butterfly tin to look like an angel. :wings: :luck:

I bake for orders...what I normally make for a christening is a fluffy bear cake.
Wilton is obtainable in the UK...they have some lovely shaped tins. Pity that you're so far 'cos you could've borrowed one of mine... I can give you a recipe for something that is very simple & easy to make....it's similar to an eclair but doesn't have a cream filling....in fact it has no filling at all but tastes as if it does!! It's different and you could have it in addition to the sponge cake...it's DIVINE!!
My daughter is getting confirmed on the 22nd May so I've got some baking to do as well...I'll be making a sponge cake with marzipan over it (don't know how to say it in English)...amongst others..

Any suggestions will help right now...

I will post it a little bit later this afternoon - it is a very easy and good recipe. It is a big recipe and can serve 20 people.
