FA to begin hunt for England boss

Eriksson will step down as England coach after the World Cup
The Football Association is set to begin a hunt for a new England boss to succeed Sven-Goran Eriksson, who will stand down after this year's World Cup.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is the early favourite for the post.

Also linked are Middlesbrough's Steve McClaren, Alan Curbishley of Charlton and former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill.

Ex-Bayern Munich boss Ottmar Hitzfeld and Australia coach Guus Hiddink are among the foreign candidates, along with Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

I hope Curbs doesn't do go for it! I like him where he is!!

It's such a kiss of death for a manager. Sven came highly recommended having won quite a few trophies...what has we won with England? Zip! Nada! Zero!

I believe Sven was very good for England and made a major difference in the beginning

him staying longer and longer has done him no favours

The World Cup could not come sooner or later for him
