For the benefit of those of you that may like to take the opportunity of having FREE software to use on their computer, there is an article in the current edition of Computer Active (Issue 179 – cost £1.35) that tells you how. Available from Newsagents from 23rd December 2004 (I get mine early by subscription)

See the feature on page 32 – 37 which explains everything. This is your big chance to see how you can benefit from Linux and the Open Source community. It goes on to explain in some detail on how you can add Linux to an existing Window$ PC or if you have on older PC you can fully install Linux on that PC instead. The recommended choice they give is Mandrake as being one of the easier systems for beginners and novices to start with. However there are many other “versions†to choose from out there depending on what you want from your PC.
Good luck to those of you who do take the plunge.
