Communications Minister Faith Muthambi will visit various schools in the Vhembe District in Limpopo, where she will hand out tablets to the best performing schools as part of the Back to School campaign.
The Minister's first stop will be at Mtititi High, outside Malamulele, tomorrow morning, where she will interact with leaners, teachers and members of the School Governing Body.
Minister Muthambi will also hand out 150 pairs of shoes to learners from poor households in the district.
“Our view as government is that education is the cornerstone of our society and can help add more impetus to the journey of nation building and reconciliation.
“Our goal is to encourage learners to improve their performance and knowledge by making use of the ICT resources available to them. This goes towards achieving our aim of enabling easy access to information to all of our people, even those living in rural areas," she said.
Other schools to be visited by the Minister include Jim Chavani PP Hlungwani and Peningotsa and Ximun’nwana High Schools.
The Minister is also scheduled to visit Marholeni and Russel Bungeni High schools before she officially unveils the new Parliamentary Office in Malamulele town. - SAnews.gov.za
