The rubbery little toy that kids use to obtain imprints of comic strips was used on Apollo 8 in 1968 to help fasten down tools in zero gravity and to alleviate boredom. More than 4 500 tons of Silly Putty (or 300 million eggs of it) have been sold since its launch in 1950. It has even been used to relieve stress and to make casts of gorillas' hands and feet at the Chicago Zoo.

Noted for his astonishing talents in art. architecture, engineering and various othe subjects, da Vinci wrote his his notebook entries backward so that only those "in the know" could decipher his writings. Besides his most famous paintings, Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, da Vinci was also known for his work with hydraulics and human anatomy.

Besides having 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and 8 staircases, it also sports a tennis court, jogging track and swimming pool. The original pool comissioned by Franklin D. Only two countries, the United States and the Soviet Union, had launched manned spacecraft into orbit. It wasn't until October 15, 2003, that China became the third country to claim this status, sending 38-year-old Yang Liwei on his historic journey.
