Learners, who are not satisfied with their subject results for the National Senior Certificate, have until 21 January to register for a re-marking, re-checking or viewing of the script.

According to the Department of Basic Education, application forms for re-checking and re-marking are available at the schools and centres where the candidates sat for their exams as well at district offices.

The fees are R79 for re-marking, R16 for re-checking and R157 for viewing a re-checked or re-marked examination script.

“Candidates from no-fee schools and learners, whose parents have applied and have been granted a concession on the payment of schools fees are exempted from payment of re-marking and rechecking fees,” says the department.

Candidates who did not meet the minimum requirements but need as many as two subjects to obtain a National Senior Certificate may sit for supplementary examinations.

This also applies to candidates who are one requirement short for admission to higher education studies.

They may also qualify if they could not sit or finish the exams due to medical reasons, a death in the family or other special causes. Evidence documenting the reasons will be needed.

Learners will be able to register to write the supplementary examinations by applying at their schools or centres where they sat, by 24 January 2014.

The 2014 NSC Supplementary Examinations commences on 17 February 2014 and ends on 25 March 2014.

If results were withheld, learners should contact the provincial head office or district office to establish the reasons for the withholding of the results. – SAnews.gov.za
