Government has welcomed Business Unity South Africa’s pledge to support the implementation of the National Development Plan (NDP).

“A high degree of collaboration between business and government is needed for the NDP’s success. The pledge by BUSA is a step in the right direction to realising Vision 2030,” Acting Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) CEO Phumla Williams said on Tuesday.

This after BUSA said it will help the incoming administration to implement the NDP. The plan aims to eradicate unemployment and poverty, among others, by 2030.

Williams said government cannot achieve the vision alone and called on all sectors of society to support its implementation, as it is the responsibility of all South Africans.

“This is the country’s blueprint, and not only government’s initiative. All citizens should embrace Vision 2030 and work together to grow our economy and improve the lives of South Africans.”

The NDP, which was embraced by Parliament and endorsed by Cabinet, is the country’s 30-year growth and development framework to bolster the economy and address unemployment, poverty and inequality.

Government urged every citizen to familiarize themselves with the plan.
