The Santa Maria got stuck on an island called Isla Espanola, which is now Haiti. Columbus took the 98-foot cargo ship apart and used the wodden parts to create a fortress he called La Navidad. A replica of his historic ship sits on the shores of the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio, and serves as a museum.
In 2003 Forbes magazine listed Peanuts creator Charles Schulz as the top earning deceased celebrity.
