He directed his father in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948), for which Walter Huston won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He directed his daughter, Angelica in Prizzi's Honour (1985) for which she wom the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

It adopted its new name in 1973, and gained full independence in 1981. The name Belize comes from the Mayan word belix, which means "muddy water".

He was a whaling captain based in Nantucket , Massachusetts. The Macy's red star symbol was inspired by the red star tatoo popular with Nantucket whalers.
