The more I watch the world cup and see incidents going by without punishment. yet SA seem to be always cited or yellow carded, the more I begin to wonder!!!

For example, Steyn was yellow carded on Saturday yet was not even involved.

Burger gets cited for dangerous play against Samoa, which even the match officials agreed was not dangerous. Yet in a game where any one of several Samoans could and should have been red carded, only one gets cited.

Then Habana gets yellow carded for killing the ball, yet a few minutes later, a Tonga player is guilty of pulling down a maul when SA were headed towards the try-line, punishment meted out, a penalty with no card.

He had seen Bakkies Botha wrestling on the ground and had run over from his wing to play peacemaker, only to be attacked by Vaka (who Steyn will feel deserves a vulgar pronunciation of his surname)!

Video footage indeed shows this to be a case of defamation of character. The case for or against Habana, who was pinned for the professional foul of "not rolling away", is not that clear. "I did not really have a chance to roll away but I am not going to complain. You have to go with these things," he said.

But while the Boks were not happy with the yellow cards, they were also honest about their performance and the youngest player on the field, Steyn, summed it up aptly. "We played very badly," he said bluntly.

"We are not as good as we think we are and have been brought down to earth with a bump."

I would be the first one to admit that SA rugby players are no angels, but am at a loss to understand some of the goings on as they do not make any sense whatsoever
