Hi,

My hubby told me today that he saw the UK will be bringing in a points system, same as in Australia. I am just wondering if anyone knew if/how this will affect people already here on an Ancestral visa? We were already caught out by the extension requirements brought out in April 2006, and had to extend our visa for another year. We are due to apply for ILR in July 2008, and then obviously citizenship in 2009.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

The ancestry visa is aimed at people with a close connection with the UK, while the points system is aimed at all others. These two categories are not mutually exclusive but it seems unlikely that ancestry applicants will be effected. However parliament could legislate differently!
