Pretoria- A 45-year old man has appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court for being in possession of two elephant tusks, said Limpopo police on Sunday.

Baldwin Netshidzivhe (45) appeared in court on a charge of possession of ivory worth R25 400. His case was postponed to 21 February when he will apply for bail.

“The ivory, which differs in size and thought to have been removed from two different elephants, are valued at R25 400. Police investigations are underway to establish the origin of the recovered ivory and possibly find the carcases of the slain elephants,” said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi. -SAnews.gov.za
