Bye Bye Mike: I'm finished, says Tyson
Posted by: ForumAdmin - 13-06-2005, 06:36 AM - Forum: SportsTalk - Replies (1)

I'm finished, says Tyson
Mike Tyson, the self-styled "baddest guy on the planet", announced his retirement after losing to an unheralded Irishman on Saturday night.

"This is it, I'm finished," Tyson, 38, said after failing to answer the bell for the seventh round of the non-title bout against Kevin McBride.

"It's just not in my heart. I'm just not interested in fighting anymore."

Tyson, a parody of the ferocious fighter who became the youngest undisputed world heavyweight champion at the age of 20, then bizzarely added he would now consider missionary work.

Three losses in his last four fights would suggest Tyson seek other challenges. Unfortunately debts of at least $30-million (about R204-million) are the reason he took the McBride fight in the first place. He filed for bankruptcy in August 2003, before announcing last year that he would fight McBride on pay-for-view television.

After promoters expressed reservations about McBride's pedigree, Briton Danny Williams stepped in and won the biggest fight of his modest career with a fourth-round knockout.

I found an excellent deal on KLM flights to Cape Town ... £320 plus taxes.
Unfortunately it leaves very early in the day (6.35am) and finally arrives in CT at 21.55, but if you can handle it, go for it. Smile
Oh yes, and its for the beginning of August... I'm not sure when the deal is valid til.

  World Record for Springbok Debutant
Posted by: African Noise - 11-06-2005, 04:39 PM - Forum: SportsTalk - Replies (2)

The hero for the Springboks was wing Tonderai Chavhanga, who was making his debut, and he ran in six sparkling tries - a World Record for a debutant - also a Springbok record for any player. His effort surpassed the five scored by Stefan Terblanche in that huge defeat of Italy. ok:

also ..

The 134-3 result represents a Springbok record for points scored in a Test match, surpassing the 101-0 thrashing dished out to Italy in Durban in 1999.
ok:

Oh and if you do not know yet ... the Lions lost to the Maori's :babyroll: :haha:

Beeld-deurloop: Koesterend in die sagte nat is die verlange stil
Cecile Cilliers

En hy jaag die see op, die wind. Die weervoorspellers waarsku van deinings hoër as 5 m, golwe hoër as my huis

Op my stoep hurk druipnat 'n viertal rooivlerkspreeus.

:hartlik:
