some reason or other I believe that pizza was 'discovered' by Italians who moved to the USA - originally it was poor mans food.

Greeks founded Naples and it was they who first used flatbread but seeing that pizza was first made in Naples, Italy, I would have to say, fact.

Most food historians agree that pizza (flat bread, tomato sauce and cheese) originated in Naples. If not Naples, then Rome. The word pizza, meaning "pie", appears in both regions as early as A.D. 1000. The essential pizza ingredient, mozzarella cheese, originated in Naples during the 15th century.

The story of Peter Rabbit first appeared as a song.

It began as a letter. In 1923, Beatrix Potter, author of The Tale of Peter Rabbit, wrote a letter to the son of a former governess. In the letter, she included a short story of a mischievous rabbit and drew illustrations to go with the tale. Several other characters created by Potter appeared first in letters to friends.

Bingo was invented by church elders as a way to raise money.
