That is fiction.

The author is a man who heard the story somewhere and decided to write the book which is a work of fiction. Smile
It has some elements of truth, but is definitely not an autobiography.

Though written as a memoir from the perspective of a one-time geisha, the novel was actually written by Arthur Golden, a white American male born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who studied Japanese art at Harvard and Japanese history at Coumbia University.

The ostrich buries it head in the sand when it senses danger.
