Packard Bell Woes - jimswin - 16-12-2005 I am trying to get my sister in laws PB machine running again after the HDD failed completely. Has anyone had anything to do with these? After a fruitless week of mucking about and talking to some very helpful guys on the PB forums I will try again this weekeknd. # They use a thing called a tatto which writes info about the hardware and software toa protected area on the HDD. If you dont get this part right nothing works. I can only recommend to anyone thinking about buying PB NOT TO!!!! Packard Bell Woes - Goldminer - 24-12-2005 I had exactly the same problem a few years ago on an old PB machine. Ended up ditching all the old PB softwear and OS and installing new. I know that doesn't help but I agree wholeheartedly that I would never, ever buy a PB machine again. They fill their machines with obsolete hardwear or even worse "unique" stuff which when it fails is next to impossible to replace. |
