ILR from Ancestry visa - Bean of Love - 12-08-2008

Hi,

We are due to apply for our ILR shortly. I have made an appointment to go in person at the PEO in Solihull (Birmingham).

Has anyone gone to the PEO in Birmingham before?
Has anyone applied for ILR through Ancestry?
I need to know which documents to include. Many people have said only to give them proof of ancestry and our ID's, passports.... surely this is not enough to satisfy them.
Other people have have said to give them payslips, bank statements, bills and the like... This has confused me a little.

So, any answers, suggestions would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

BoL

Bean, We applied recently in Feb '08, and included (some of it is obvious):-

Life in UK test results originals;
SA passports;
Unabridged birth certificates from qualifying grandparent through to applicant;
Unabridged Marriage certificate;
Pay slips for the previous 3 months for myself and my wife;
HSBC current account statements for the previous 3 months for both of us;
Some other savings info (couple of savings accounts)
And a copy of the title information document for our house (I imagine some other form of confirmation of period and place of residence would do).

All docs were originals.

This was enough to get our ILR granted.

This is an anxious time for you I guess. I remember being stressed because its really what you've been working towards (almost, anyway - 1 year to citizenship and I can't wait to apply for that). Hang in there - as long as you've read the instructions and have met the five year qualification it will work out.

By the way, we made a postal application. Saved a bit of cash, just took a little more patience.

Alvon.

Thank you very much!

As you say, it is a very stressful time for us. There is no reason why we shouldn't get this, but you never know!

I just want the 5th September to be over and I want my sticker in my passport and then I want to move on tot he next step before they decide to change the rules again!

It would be good if you could PM me as I would like to ask a few more questions considering you went this route.

Thanks again
