Unfortunately Sue, money is the B all and end all to many many people. In this "must have" society that we find ourselves, the more money people can get by fair means or foul, appears to be becoming an important factor in the lives of so many. As you so correctly "highlite" money cannot bring one the 'important' things in life - those money cannot buy.
