Questions of Mike Stofile
#1
Paul Dobson takes a look at the hornets's nest stirred up by discarded rugby boss Mike Stofile, who uttered all sorts of racial accusations after he was beaten in a South African Rugby Union (SARU) presidential vote by Oregan Hoskins. There's a few questions rugby365's respected writer would like answered!

Rugby problems are nothing in comparison to the problems faced in athletics

Athletics South Africa troubles ahead

the sport of road running was the most integrated sport in SA before 1994 and it 'seems' that the more liberal you were previously the more it was seen as a weakness with Athletic Administration simply being run by political persons who just don't have it. ASA have tried to take over Two Oceans and Comrades, so that they can plunder the coffers. One wonders what amount of money is paid under the counter to them to avoid the fight

Athletics is the most high profile sport going to biggest sporting event in the World, the Olympics. It was also the easiest sport to draw a line to performances in isolation to world performances. So a lot of hope was expected for Athletics

The comedy of errors continues there and nothing is done about it, when ex-athletics chief Sindane took on a job which was out of the athletics structure but still in sport, athletics thought they had got rid of him.

Not so, when his job was ended he simply went back to ASA and demanded his job back, see that is how it is done.

Instead of them bowing to him (all he was interested in was the money anyway) and giving him his old job back, they created a consultancy role for him and last year saw ASA spend more than R800 000 on consultancy.

This year administration spent R43 million on salaries and admin, throw in telephone bills of 200 000 and mobile bills of 400 000 and you begin to realise what a jolly it all is

Its a shambles and it sadly reflects a society where responsibility is the last needed work ethic
