Salary scales for Service Manager
#1
Hi Folks, I have been approached by the UK MD to fill a Service Manager position responsible for 20 people in our Leominster office in the UK.

This is a specialised team of technicians and guys performing installation/training repairs and calibration for the whole of UK and Ireland,

I have cruised the net and looked at salary scales, but would appreciate any guidelines on what ranges the salaries could be expected to lie between.

Also what is the current UK trend with respect to medical top up schemes and pensions etc.

I will be meeting with the guys in the next couple of weeks, but would like to be prepared and at least have some info for the meeting. All help appreciated.

Thanks Jimswin

The best would be to get hold of your relevant trade magazines that deal with the career that you're in. Perhaps they have an online magazine/ portal that has a breakdown of the info that pertains to your position.

Alternatively call a few agencies and see what they could offer you WRT Salary etc?

It depends on the usual supply and demand and what is payed to staff in your area. Also, are you going to need to attract staff from other parts of the country or will there be sufficient supply in the surrounding area.
Lastly, most of the techie companies around here do offer a benefits package, and I have helped set up many of these benefit packages. I suggest you PM me for any further info you require around this area of expertise, and I will be able to put you in touch with relevant people to assist

Thanky very much, I will certainly take you up on your offer for info on the benefits.

About Salaries, I had a brief chat with Joan ( pm) and I think I have an idea of the rates. I agree that it is area dependant, but in my case the office is located in Leominster, and if one were to look at the local salaries, they could not attract the skills that are required for the position in the local labour pool. It is a fairly specialised line requiring some unique skilly that one would have to recruit in the cities.

I also chatted to the UK Co accountant and he confirmed my numbers ( at least I am in the ballpark so to speak)
