Although I do love having the house all to ourselves and not having to worry about kids who stay out too late, I do miss their conversation and laughter around the dinner table. I miss all their friends coming and going and the hive of activity around the place. I even miss taking care of pet frogs and sick fish for those who lived on campus. I miss waking up on Saturday mornings to find college kids sleeping everywhere and having to make breakfast for them. I miss how they loved to play pranks on me and the messages I'd find on my car.
All too soon those days were suddenly gone as they all went their separate ways.
Enjoy every phase of your children's lives and cherish the time you have with them. The empty nest rolls around sooner than you expect.
