I bought a Canon 20D just before my SA trip in 2005. At the time I mostly used the standard EFS17-85 IS lense and a EF70-300 IS which, for an economical lense, I found to be brilliant and still rate my copy highly as it worked well for me in Kenya.
Since then, I've swopped the 17-85 for a EF24-105 IS L as my walkabout lense and added a 100-400 IS L for wildlife photography. I also have a EFS 10-22 and EFS 60 Macro. I've no immediate plans to add to these, perhaps I'll upgrade the body if the rumoured 40D is worth it but I'm happy with the 20D so the upgrade would need to be significant.
Good choice, I have the Canon 30d with a Sigma 24 - 60mm, 2.8 constant and the Sigma 70 - 300mm APO. I also bought a cheap (fantastic plastic) 50mm 1.8 which with the 1.6x factor makes an excellent portrait lens. You can almost take pictures in the dark. I am very pleased with my set up and it would take a lot to make me upgrade in the near future. More pixels don't mean much these days. However the full frame 5d is tempting. To get wide angles back....
