Does D have any interest in cookery?
The scientific side of cookery with exact measurements, quantities etc might 'entice' him to experiment with foods - both varied and familiar.
As to the nutritional aspect of his food intake.. I'm afraid you will have to get a nutritionist involved as my experience is limited somewhat.
