How many of us do not long for the good old days? For some reason or other they always seem to be better than today. Or are they? Well, I can assure you that if we go back to those times we would find fault again and start longing for better days all over. Perhaps that is why Ecclesiastes 7:10 cautions us not to think that the past was better than the present, because it is not wise to do so. If we did we would not live every present moment we receive from God's hand to his glory.
We have only today to live our life fully for the Lord and others. Yesterday is water under the bridge already, and we can't be sure that we will see the light of tomorrow. But today is within our reach. Let us make it into a festive day for the Lord. Let us hand out cups of cool water to those who are going through difficult times. Let us be good to one another. Let us gladden the heart of the Lord today.
