Voltage rails can fail at various points; but I am not convinced that your problem lies with the power supply.
I suspect a M/B /HD or possibly even a graphics card problem. It is also worth pulling the IDE hard drive cable as occasionally the bios check will auto shut down the pc if a fault is reported on the H/D.
As you have ordered a replacement power supply, I will keep my fingers crossed that this is where the fault lies. Do you not have any warranty support left?

Sadly the 2nd (nor 3rd and 4th) PC doesn't have the same power supply connectors otherwise I would've tried that.
The last test I did was to power up just the motherboard (with memory) and it still stopped after a few seconds so to me it can only be the PSU or the MB and since PSU's are cheaper I decided to buy one of those :haha:
If it isn't the PSU then I'll return it as we have a 14 day return policy and all it will have cost me is the postage
I checked today and I built the new comp in July 2004 so it is still under warranty, except for the graphics card which is under guarantee still as it is not as old, the original lasted just over a year
)Hopefully the new PSU will arrive tomorrow....
