The problems were as follows:
1) It took us about 30km's to get past all the beginners who were cycling 4 next to each other.
2) Just when we were in a nice group - I decided to fall and mess up my knees and my handlebars. It took about 10 minutes to fix my handlebars and by that time we were back with the beginners :-)
3) Messed up knees and a torn ligament ( I only discovered this about 2 weeks after the race) is not a good combination if you have 74 km's left.
4) Hubby started to cramp just before Chappies!
5) At the top of Suikerbossie were stopped because a helicopter had to make an emergency landing to pick up a guy that had a heart attack - another 10 mintues at least!
I will have to go back next year to try again!
