Turntable/amp problem
#14
Hej Roger,

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I only got back from Italy on Sunday and since Monday our internet at home has been down and I've been too busy at work these past few nights to come online Sad

What turntable have you got? Do you know if it is a DC or AC motor?

From what I've read in this thread it sounds as if you have a "earth" problem.

I'd check the ground cable between the turntable and the amp first. If that is ok then I'd try something which doesn't make sense but sometimes works...

If your hi-fi is earthed, unearth it. If it isn't earthed then earth it.

Something else has just struck me...

Does it occur when the stylus touches the record or when you start to lower it?

Hopefully we'll get the internet at home working this afternoon, our ISP is sending out a technician after stuffing us around since Monday, but if not, then I won't be online till late Sunday evening when I am back at work again.
