No, it wasn't David Davies. The chap I am thinking of had wavy brown hair, was very debonair with a roughish talking voice and he had oh such a way with the girls! :haha: ( Well, he thought he did anyway) Wink

Here are the rest of the presenters and I am very loathe to say that I was thinking of John Berks who, of course, became quite a big name on 702.

John Berks, Gary Edwards, Darryl Jooste, Evelyn Martin, Barry OÂ’Donnahue and Reg de Beer.

I did not know John Berks was on LM radio, I do remember Evelyn Martin with her smooth voice.

BTW....methinks we are hijacking a thread?????? Big Grin

Good point Joan!

Let's ask Ed, it's his thread. I prefer to think of it as evolving, but of course if Ed objects then I think we should stop. Or start a new thread? Big Grin or maybe Admin could split it if they think it necessary?

Yoo Hoo Admin?! :lovebuzz:

Am not sure if there was a radio ban as I can clearly remember listening to it in the car driving from Somerset-West to Sea Point every Sunday Big Grin

Hej Joan and Tara,

Personally I feel that this thread has not been hi-jacked but has evolved as Tara says in the post after the one I quote. Had you gone off the topic of music and started talking about the upcoming braai or your kids I am sure it would have been considered as a hi-jack and possibly edited.

So unless Edmonsta objects I'd like to see this thread remain as it is Smile

One of you could however start a thread reminiscing about old RJ's (Radio Jocks) Big Grin (I've not seen any posts in this section for a few hours so I don't know if someone has already started such a thread, I'd only just come online when a mail notice of a PM pointed me to this thread)

Here are the lyrics for Valarie Millers version:

Oh please daddy won't you take us to Inanda
All six, seven, of us. eight, nine, ten...
The Horsey boys will all be there
The Goodman brothers what a pair
and we can get our picure on the social page again...

Champagne, caviar, polo and Jaguars
Garden parties, debutants and French liquer
Life so boring for a gal who cannot join the social world
With first nights, dimple Hague and gowned by Dior

Oh please daddy won't you fly us of to London
First class of course in the 707
we're sure sure to make the Margret set
find some titled boyfriend yet
To dance at the Savoy will be positively Heaven

Champagne, caviar, polo and Jaguars
Garden parties, debutants and French liquer
Life so boring for a gal who cannot join the social world
With first nights, dimple Hague and gowned by Dior

Oh please daddy let's go skiing at Saint Morits
with Mary Lou and you know who and the upper 10
If we don't break our arms and necks we're sure to charm the other sex
and when the season's over we'll go Boeing back again

Champagne, caviar, polo and Jaguars
Graden parties, debutants and French liquer
Life so boring for a gal who cannot join the social world
With first nights, dimple Hague and gowned by Dior

Oh please daddy if we can't go off to London
or spend a month in Paris when the weather's fine
if we can't induldge in winter sports
or cruise around some foreign ports
won't you buy me just a teenie weenie diamond mine

Champagne, caviar, polo and Jaguars
Garden parties, debutants and French liquer
Life so boring for a gal who cannot join the social world
With first nights, dimple Hague and gowned by Dior

Oh please daddy...

Voertsek (- the r) !!!!!!

Ag sies Koekie
just cut out all that nagging
pasop now hey, just remember I'm your pa
I'm sommer fed up with your cheek
and that fancy way you speak
That blerrie school that finished you has finished you klaar

Popcorn chewing gum (chewing gum)
Peanuts and bubblegum (bubblegum)
Ice cream, candy floss (candy floss) and eskimo pie

Ag Daddy how we miss nigger balls, liquorice
pepsi cola, ginger beer and canada dry
