This is a little off topic. But my cousin here in the UK is deaf and so is her husband and the most amazing thing is that her daughter of 8 years old learnt to sign the alphabet and also many words without ever being shown, she just picked it up over the last year or two. Both parents speak to their children, and also lip read very well. It is amazing what children do learn in the very early years and even a slightly later on in their childhood.

max is brought up speaking, english, german and an austrian dialect of german. his mom and i speak english, sister german and father dialect.
