Rita has told me about the remarkable person you are, and I'm pleased that you were able to see my thread from when I was ill with the cancer.
Glad to report all's well, I have my regular check-ups and mammograms and am well looked-after by the NHS. Incidentally, I read what the onc in SA told you but am happy to say that when cancer is diagnosed or suspected here, you don't have to wait on any waiting lists, they move you through their wonderful system and really care very well for you. I couldn't fault them - also results on the same day etc. Their goal is to operate within 2 weeks of diagnosis, and I was well within that limit. Then I too needed a further op to get the lymph nodes out. It seems like an epidemic - funny how once you've had it, you hear about everyone else and so many people you know.
Keep up with the sense of humour - I think God gifted us S Africans with an amazing imaginative sense of humour, and it gets one through so much.
I too was asked 'Why does God let this happen to a good person like you?'.. and so on.. and my reply was also 'Why not me?' I live in the same world as everyone else.. but I do have Him to love me through it, which makes all the diffs.
I don't know what support system you've had, but mine was amazing. So very committed and caring and available. It didn't help having the chronic rib pain that I've now had for 3 years, for which I take a morphine cocktail, but my friends have been another gift from the Lord, considering I was nowhere near any family. Interesting that you were (are?) in Pinetown, well I come from Richmond KZN, so we have someplace in common :tonguepop:

Do look after yourself, you are of utmost value, think of your car's regular check-ups, as you said! You're worth it.. as they say..
