Sue Johnson to share cancer experience
#52
Afternoon from a very sunny Monteseel

Last night we had a massive storm with real hailstones can you believe. The south has really suffered this past week with many homes lost and some luxury homes teetering on the edge of the ocean. It's unbelievable the amount of rain that fell in such a short period.

Thank you for all your messages. Had my session yesterday and had great company chatting to the other patients. Makes the time fly and drank 3 mugs of hot chocolate at the same time. :innocent:

Had to see the Oncologist before my treatment and share with her how I had dealt with the first session. I had said the first night was really difficult and so she prescribed some sleeping tablets. Now I am not a good tablet taker especially as all this other stuff is slushing around ones system but I thought I would try one and I am glad I did. I fell asleep in the armchair and hubby could not wake me up and so he covered me up and left me.....and so I had a lekker sleep. I also took the anti nausea tablet this morning and so I have been able to eat lunch and breakfast ....simple stuff but I am coping better than with the first session.

I think it is a process and understanding what is coming, going through it and then making the adjustments to lesson the side effect. The fatigue is there still so I just pace myself and today I did the washing and rested between each load and tomorrow I will do the housework and rest in-between again. I even dug up a patch of the veggie garden this morning to prepare for planting so all is well!!

The one thing I did find totally distressing this past week was my hair falling out. You know it is going to happen but I cannot explain what it is like to have it fall out in clumps, in the hair brush in the shower. So, I decided enough is enough and I phoned Emiles (Tina's place) and said I was coming in straight after the Chemo and they must take the lot off......... :jester:

What a relief.......I now have a GI Jane number. I was fitted for my wig and came home wearing it but I took it off as soon as I got home. My scalp is still to tender and so I am wearing small headscarf's and I am perfectly relaxed and comfortable with them. :cloud9:

It is work on Mondaya and then off to the surgeon in the afternoon. I still have quite a bit of swelling but I nearly have full movement of my arm once more so I am not complaining. I think it is a matter of time for your body to heal... Message to Sue........ BE PATIENT!

I just had a thought, my next Chemo is on 11th July........then I will be half way through already.........cool hey! :chorus:

Take care and thank you for your support and prayers and other stuff!

Sue
