The 5 Year Plan...
#1
Good evening/day to those that are out there...
Had a look at my post "Evita...", quite scary sounding stuff... I wouldn't want to live in the place I describe, but some weeks are better than others, crime dissappears for a while, and we all carry on. Apart from the fact that Zim is falling apart, and quiet diplomacy seems to still be the way to go!! things are good here. I suppose it makes sense, the whole quiet diplomacy thing, it's the solution to most of our problems in the new SA. Can't wait for the people to get up and get us back on course...Might have to be one of them..
Perhaps you could help me with something...
Imagine that you were about to turn 35 and you wanted to come up with a 5 year plan. Where would you want to be at 40??
Now I'm sure some have reached such milestones years ago, but others may have this ahead of them.
Name the 5 most important things you would want to achieve in these years.
I'll pop in from time to time to see what you would do, more heads are better than one and all that...
There are a few weeks to play with before the big day. If the next 5 years go past at the same speed that the last did, there had better be some achievements etc to show for it..
Call this a brain storming session...later...

5 year plan

direction, stability, long-term plan and harmony

starting on the direction is difficult for some

creating stability within oneself so that the resolve to achieve remains in place

the long-term plan of where we would like to see ourselves, that state which is hopefully

harmony

Happiness - be happy with who and where I am (have a way to go still on that one)

Studies - start and finish degree (have done the first part of that)

Stability - stay put for more than two years (basically not moving house)

Financially sound - not owe anyone anything (I can dream)

Work - in a satisifying job, preferably one which I enjoy.

OK, so no fireworks, perhaps not well visited part of GlabalBuzz??

Just want to add 2 things and say that my deadline to sort these goals out is near the end of August, for obvious reasons...

Firstly, a poem that my grandfather once gave me, called "IF" by Rudyard Kipling.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

--Rudyard Kipling

Evening Disting

I guess for me it would be planning for the 'sun set' years :dazed:

I know I would like to see my home completed :yikes:
I would like to see both my children settled and married :engel:
I would like to see grandchildren :noway:
I would like to see the garden I am making from wild bush become a place of peace and tranquility:thumbs:
I want to maintain the same distgusting good health, I have had over the last half century ok:

and if the plans don't work out? :crylol: Then, I begin again.....
