Fiction - Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone with the Wind, her first novel, between 1925 and 1932. Clark Gable had only started to make a name for himself in Hollywood in 1931. Before that he survived on various odd jobs, travelled with a small theatrical stock company, and worked as an extra. As Gable said, "I am certain Miss Mitchell was not interested in an obscure Oklahoma oil field worker, which I was at the time".
