ta sunny, i would appreciate that link in a pm.... although i have finished the course, my tummy is still hurting, so off to the doctor again, i think i might have to swallow the camera this time to see if i do have an ulcer or anything else...Sad

i did good flora with it, i never take antibiotics without acidophylus, call me paranoid but my Mom taught me - as she never goes without her interflora at home either....Smile

I have read lots of complaints from peeps who finish the treatment and still have problems even though tests show the bug has been eradicated .... if you find this is the case .... you will have to work hard at building up your gut health .... not only with the acidophylus but lots of fresh water and VERY healthy diet .... some believe HPylori can be self eliminated by changing diet etc and getting your immune system in tip top condition Wink .... PS .... if it was me and the doc suggests a second course of anti biotics ... I would be inclined to try a natural cure next before going that route again .... I will send the link to you .... some are having great success with a product called Mastic Gum .... you will see it mentioned on the site and also you can do some research on it ..... supposed to be very good at erradicating HPylori.

PS ....

The Australian specialist Barry Marshall .... who proved that HPlori was the direct cause of stomuch ulcers ... had loads of opposition from the medical profession and eventually infected himself to prove his theory and then cured himself with meds. Ant acids are a billion dollar industry ... hence the reluctance of the medical profession to co-operate with his discovery .... however these days they are far more agreeable about it all and many docs will suggest this could be the cause and will send the patiant for tests .... I have his video which was on SABC in SA and I taped it .... VERY interesting .... the most reliable test is the breath test.

Hi Cubbie

Like you I had a routine blood test recently and also like you they called me back for a consultation. Whilst most of the tests were OK they said I had a very high cholesterol level (7.8). I was told that if I didn't do anything about it and just carried on as normal I would be dead within 5 years. Not what I wanted to hear. They have told me to start on a low cholesterol diet and to do some exercise (I'm a tad overweight) then report back in 3 month's time. If there is still no improvement then I will go the medication route.

This is all very new to me because my previous blood test showed a very low cholesterol level, so you can see I was gobsmacked. I can therefore sympathise with you and will look forward to hearing that you have made good progress by the next test. Likewise I hope to do the same.

I have read through most of this thread and it seems that there is a lot of good advice available. I will keep an eye on the boards to see how you progress.

Meanwhile you take care and I hope that things improve for you soon.

Regards

Hi Sunny, what is this Mastic Gum?
I have never heard of it and would really like to know more about it, so if you do not mind, won't you post the website?
I am sure many of the readers will find benefit from the information provided there.
I agree, the breath test is best, I myself have antibodies that show that I have the Helicobacter pylori, but I have never, ever had stomach problems... I may be a "carrier" like being a "carrier" of colour blindness, I do not know, but my stomach is made of steel, I can eat anything and everything!
If you do not mind to post the website, I would really appreciate it, many people that come into the pharmacy often want alternative medicine and do not want to go through this horrible regime of eradicating H. pylori!

Thanks:daisy:

Boy, i am not impressed!! I went to doctor last week, for a suspected ulcer or gastritis, he sent me for blood tests, and now wants to see me on Tuesday - as my tests came back - high cholesterol!! I am shocked as i hardly eat anything relating to fat, i grill and bake all my meat, chicken, use olive oil for everything, i do not have margarine or butter on my bread!! I phoned my Mom today to see if she or my Dad suffered from cholesterol, no..but my Dad's family has cholesterol problems. At the moment i do not know what my count is, but i presume maybe 6??

I guess it could be the stressful life i live!! :bigcry:

I wonder what the HDL level was??? Medication does wonders but exercise works even better...

Hi Joan ... can we post links to web sites on here ... it is discussion boards all on stomuch problems especially HPylori ... in the mean time I will pm u the link.

Yes I think I have read some people have HPylori but no symptoms ... very lucky indeed .... to my knowlegde it is about the most common bacteria around and in 3rd world countries ... about 95% of the population is infected .... glad to hear u are not having symptoms ... maybe you have managed to eradicate it yourself ... Anyway on the HPylori site .... the specialist Barry Marshall (who discovered HPylori causes ulcers and whose site it is) goes by the user name of Barjammer ... he comes on occasionally to answer questions Smile

I would agree to an extent spam, depending on the type of hypercholesterolaemia, if it is familial, you can exercise till the cows come home...

I know that nowdays the press does inform us of the HDL and LDL, the trigylcerydes , etc.
Yet, some people have to take medication, despite a healthy diet, lots of exercise etc.

And unfortunately, all medicines have side effects, so no one really wants to use something chronically!

Sad

Hi Cubbie

Yeah I also have the Heartburn problem, even though I am on permanent medication. Whether it will work for you, it certailnly works for me and that is to drink a large glass of chilled (not ice cold) water. I usually run the tap for a while then I fill the glass. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and that's when I really need it. It normally works unless it is a very serious attack. All I can suggest is try it and see.

I will keep an eye on the boards to see how you get on. Meanwhile, keep smiling, life is too short to worry about it.

Best regards
