Baby Care Suggestions - Joan - 18-10-2004

Hi...

I have looked into the baby care thing a bit since I found out I am pregnant. Hubby and I have not been able to establish ourselves well enough for me to take more than 6months maternity leave, so I have to go back to work.

Can anyone tell me... how expensive is childcare really and what are the pitfalls I should be looking out for?

Would it be wise to possibly get a young Saffer on a working holiday visa to become an Au Pair?? And if so, what would I have to pay, over and above board and lodging?

THis is possibly a premature question, but I need to start thinking about these little things before it is too late.

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A pity you live so far from me

I would do it for free

Miss my little one so much that I can promise you your would get all the love and attention !!

Do you really have to go back to work Bean?

My little ones in SA go to a nursery and it breaks my heart.

Sheesh Joan...

I think I am moving closer to you!

Unfortunately I will probably have to go back to work. Hubby recently started a new job, and we don't have our own house yet...we are still renting so we are still working on the financial security so that we can give the little one as much as possible for later on in life!

You could definately come and visit tho!!! We have a spare room, bed all made up!

Congrats Bean of Love and Husband!!

Don't forget that if you might qualify for Working Family Tax Credit and therefore Child Tax Credit, which might give you extra funds to help with childcare. http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk <--- I think that's the link. Also look into your contract from work, some employers offer an incentive to go back to work i.e they pay for some child care.
