When Birdseye spent time as a fur trapper in Canada in the middle of winter, he observed the Eskimos freezing food at a rapid rate, and he found that it tasted better than food frozen in the spring or fall, when the freezing process took longer. He returned to the United States and perfected the quick-freeze machine to accomplish the process automatically at any time of year. This was the begining of the Birds Eye Frosted Foods Comapny that exists today.
