Thankfully my quick thinking employees explained to them that we were only removing them to repair them.....phew.
I think they still stand at the Swiss Club in GP although I went past the common in October 05 and was saddened to see that the Isreal clubhouse, Marist clubhouse and and old lions stadium have all been demolished.
The common is really looking dishevelled and the only the greek club still seems to resemble a bit of sanity.
Yep
Marist amalgamated their fields with Salesians fields so the clubhouse finally got taken down. What happened was that with amalgamation, various clubs got put into different sections. The section that Marist was in was the Cape District and very disorganised. I remember playing one game in Woodstock and all of us had to duck as the police chased some gangsters across the field firing their guns.
The Tygerberg district became the one to play for, and all of the players moved over to play for clubs their, so the common became disused. I think Hellenic continued to practise at the Greek club for a while (now they have moved as well).
