The answer I have is:
Golf, at the second summer Olympics in Paris in 1900. The winner Margaret Abbot of Chicago, shot a 47 in the nine-hole competition and was awarded a silver bowl. Golf was one of only three sports women competed in at the games - the others were croquet and tennis.
Your answer is correct, as mine is first Gold Medal, and not first Olympic Championship.
First summer Modern Olympics 1896 were no woman, and second in Paris 1900 was the first in which woman took part,as you correctly say.I thought the only sport played by them was Tennis though. :duh:
