Sue Johnson to share cancer experience
#70
Evening

Rita, the little Princess was absolutely gorgeous.....you want to play the video over and over again :blom:

You know I thought of me and my mate both of us the wrong side of 50 clutching this bottle of whisky, one bald as a coot and looking for a fix, the other not knowing how to change the conversation to something more 'Chemisty'.....if there is such a thing? and I thought, this is just the kind of material comic writers are looking for all the time

Jen, did you go 'off' certain smells? I read in a few articles that this is one of the side effects of chemo so I thought probably coffee will be a problem for me as it was when I had my children but oh no.......guess what I am REALLY having a problem with.........wait for it...........TOILET Duck or similar smelly things that hand around the bowls........no offence to you Mr Duck. :tonguepop:

Every time I walk into any loo, even my own, I want to heave if I get even a small whiff of that Duck thing. I am going to have to remove the ducks from both my loo's. :rip:

Anyway today I have been my old self again, doing bits here and there. I walked around my garden which has taken me over three years to get established. It was originally virgin bush full of alien wattle and bug weed. Today many of the coral trees that I have grown from seed are nearly a metre tall. The aloes I have also grown from seed are well established and should flower in another 2 years.

Because I have tried to plant as many indigenous trees and bushes as possible, the bird life is now an absolute pleasure to experience. I have water places for them in a number of spots and all the feeders have sides which helps keep most of the food on the feeder tray and not on the floor where my cats would love them to be. The butterflies numbers are increasing and currently we have many nectar feeding birds because of the golden shower, aloes and wild dagga.

I walk around and just watch nature and all the past week some how fades away and is replaced by a true appreciation of the work of God's creation. I thought again of the passage in the Bible where the different seasons in our lives are listed and in my garden we are in winter, but despite what the word 'winter' conjures up, there is colour, there is a frenzy of bird activity, everywhere there are the faint signs of the spring to come and that really cheered me up because despite how bad I felt last week, that has passed now..........and I can once again appreciate what is really a very beautiful place to live in
