Afternoon from a very hot and DRY Durban
The Cape is struggling under severe weather conditions which have affected many thousands of families living in the settlements whilst here in KZN we have so many fires erupting because of the dry and windy conditions.....
I have been very busy this past week in raising funds for up and coming builds and it is great being able to work from home because if I feel tired, I just go and have a lay down and then I feel Ok again.
Jen, one of the side effects of the chemo came true for me........the mouth ulcers plus a cold sore on my lip! Eating became painful and drinking my favourite hot tea was really difficult but I bought some tablets from the chemist which did the world of good and now the ulcers and cold sore have gone.
Cheffie, thank you for all the books........it was a lovely feeling to know they eventually arrived safely and I am nearly finished with Rita's book which I am thoroughly enjoying and then I want to start with yours. I am sure I have many hours of relaxing reading ahead of me. Your restaurant looks so beautiful and the food .......wow!
Tomorrow I have my blood test and Friday 11th my third chemo.
I have to tell you this because I constantly am in awe of the ways God communicates with each of us, even if we don't realise it. :cloud9:
I have said that my last session of chemo gave me some really difficult days and driving down to town one day I thought to myself......"How can I rise above what happened and take on the rest of the treatment in a positive way?"
Well believe it or not I was driving past the halfway point for the Comrades Marathon at Drummond which is just past 'Arthur's Seat' and God clearly gave me the picture that the next chemo is me running past Drummond (the half way point and chemo 3). Then he showed me that chemo 4 will be at Harrison Flats and chemo 5 will be Polly Shortts and finally chemo 6 will be me arriving in Pietermaritzburg winning the gold.........how cool is that?
I was quite chuffed then for the whole day and I thought if the thousands of people who run the marathon each year can get past each stage, then so can I. Some of their time on the road is full of laughter and fun whilst other times, the going get's hard and there is pain. Sometimes they are surrounded by hundreds of supporters and some times the going is lonely and there are few standing on the side of the road cheering them on.
But, the point is that despite what the race brings in challenges, thousands make it each year and thousands go on to do it again and again year after year.
So, making sure my running shoes are ready, my kit is there............I go onwards to Drummond the half way point in my own race....please stand there and cheer me on! :chorus:
Rob, great to see you around once more ............and yes..........you understand more than most. I hope Ruth continues to go from strength to strength
