Morning
Well my first hurdle is behind me and I wanted to give you an update as I went for a bone scan, chest x ray, ultrasound scan and a mammogram on Monday. The test results said that there had been no further spread of the cancer. They found a small cyst in my liver which they said was normal and that most people had them but were not aware of them. My bone density has been diminished through the chemotherapy drugs and so I will now take Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D to try and build up to normal levels. I have also been advised that walking is excellent exercise to build up the bones so now I will be on my treadmill each morning before I start work. I am feeling well and my hair is growing well….a nice metallic grey.
I look back and cannot believe how fast the time has gone and want to again say a Big thank you for all your prayers, positive thoughts and support!
Ben is slowly getting his life into ‘forward’ mode once more and has planned a number of holidays for 2009 (one to the UK), volunteered for kitten action (Taryn’s charity) and the wildlife foundation. He is also back at the gym and so with work, life is busy for him.
I had a wonderful holiday in the UK and I spent the whole time just being with family, joining them in their day to day life and loved every minute of it. Now that the UK has the smoking regulations in place it was an absolute pleasure to explore the UK pub scene. I just love the country pubs with their fires and warm atmospheres. I loved walking in the snow and did not feel the cold at all. I miss my family terribly and it has taken me a little while to settle down once more in SA.
Whilst I was in the UK I watched the movie The Bucket List with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson and I now have started my own 'bucket list' and the first item is to visit Greece.
A bucket list is all the things you would like to do before you die (kick the bucket).
I have always wanted to go to Greece but not to the tourist areas. I want to explore the old Greece so am currently doing some research as to the best way to go. I want to explore the islands and find those small taverna’s tucked away in the villages where most tourists do not visit, ride on a donkey, hire those mopeds to get around the islands and to just generally soak u the Greek culture! :thumbs:
I think we should all have these lists........ :engel: Any ideas for what would be on yours?
