Afternoon from a very misty Monteseel
Thanks Jen for sharing what you have been through, it really does help me BUT I am still the worlds worse patient. I love my work and my work really helps me keep focussed on others and not on myself. It is just at this point in time we have many challenges to face and some of them have been very difficult to deal with and I will never walk away from the challenging stuff but rather get stuck in to sort things out, which I did but as you say it does take it's toll emotionally and physically. I slept last night from 7.30pm to 7.00am and Rob, you know I am an early riser. I could not believe I had slept so long and all today I have been dosing on and off so the Friday is a good day for chemo (if there is such a thing) for me because weekends I can rest. :chorus:
Well I passed Polly Shortt's and am on my way to Pietermaritzburg folks. I am nauseous as usual but I just have to get on with things and not let it get me to down. I am just focussed on running into the winning circle and collecting my medal ..... urfing:
On Friday when I was having my treatment I lay next to another lady and realised how fortunate I am. She is diabetic, it was her first treatment and following a routine mammogram she was diagnosed with breast cancer and she had to have both breast removed. Her situation led to some of her friends also going for tests and one of her friends also received a positive on her tests and is going in for surgery tomorrow.
Ladies, please can I urge all who read this thread PLEASE go for a test whatever your age. Guys, please encourage your ladies to have the test. I promise it is NOT the horror test people make it out to be. It's uncomfortable that's all and it could be a life saver. I am becoming more and more alarmed by the numbers of women now being diagnosed with this form of cancer and how young many of them are.oapbox:
Disting, did you leave a message on my cell? I had two messages from people who it sounded where speaking under water and on one message I heard the word Andrew and I wondered if it was you?
Cheffie, you can phone ant time just not in the small wee hours please when chefs are doing whatever chefs do at 3am in the morning :innocent:
Have a great bank holiday and be careful on those roads!
