Evening
Thank you for your words of support and concern.....
Jen, I am not having radiotherapy. I will begin Hormone treatment therapy as my type of cancer is positive for both Eastrogen and Progesterone (spl?)
Earlier this evening we received the news that my husband's mum has passed away in hospital. My husband has booked a flight for tomorrow to return home. Mum had been ill for some time and in the last month she had deteriorated to the point where she had to be admitted into hospital. I had hoped she would hang in until I got to the UK but that was not to be. Gemma went to say goodbye to her yesterday in hospital and we knew it was only a matter of hours.
When we received the call earlier there was such a sense of relief that she has finally gone to be with her beloved Father in heaven and I have this wonderful sense that she is happy once more and free of pain. Today was also our 35th wedding anniversary and we were due to go out for a meal but we postponed that as this is not a time of celebration for many in our family.
The week has been busy (sorry Jen) as I have had 4 volunteers here from The Nottingham Housing Association who have been helping pass on some of their skills is carpentary, plumbing and electrical work to our community youth in Ntshongweni. Grant, you called as I was beseiged by hungry kids :tonguepop:
The guys have done a brilliant job and so I invited them to our place on Sunday for a braai. They thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and peace and at times I thought they would nod off so i took them on a brisk walk of the cliffs...that woke them up
So the next week or so will be quite challenging. My last chemo is on 12th September and so I need to contact a friend to drive me for my treatment. I thought I might drive myself but I think that is not a wise idea.
So yes Jen, I can hear the crowds in the far off distance and that lifts the spirit and the step. The mouth ulcers are with me once again but hey.......only one more session to go!
