In 1904 Amadeo Gianni opened a bank in San Francisco and called it the Bank of Italy. His bank survived the San Francisco earthquake and the Great Depression, and by the 1930s he had several branches in California. Gianni, the pioneer of home mortgages and auto loans, changed the bank's name in 1928 to Bank of America. It is now the largest bank in the United States.
In 1981, Apple Corps and Apple Computer signed a secret pact agreeing on the use of the Apple name.
For those that don't know, Apple Corps is a record label (think Beatles)
