System Restore wins again |

Hi all
Well I don't know what the kids clicked on this time - but they were setting up a new Hotmail account and managed to catch some horrible thing that rebooted a minute after booting, everytime (not Doom, but something similar)...not much you can do there then.
Booted ok in safe mode and had a look at what was wrong, started searching for virus etc, and googling for answers, then remembered System Restore.
If you have WinXP it is well worth switching this on.
It takes a backup of your system files and registry every time you install something, so you can restore back to that point in time.
Being an impatient sort, I cancelled everything and chose my last system restore point, after only about 15 minutes I have my computer back.
To see if it is switched on Cclick on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools and see if System Restore is in the list, if so it is switched on. Click on it and you can see all your restore points (click left and right through the calendar)
If it isn't, click on Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services then go down the list to System Restore Service, right click on it, properties, set Startup Type to Automatic, click Start, click OK

Tomorrow would be a good time for white South Africans to demonstrate that they have the capacity to honour and celebrate black sacrifices that have contributed to our achievement of a democracy and a free society.
It is hard for any group to acknowledge the suffering or achievements of another group they were in conflict with.

Good morning "DADS" everywhere.
Hope each of you enjoy your day and that you are looked after by the family today.
Is it just me, or is this just another money making racket?

Child passport expiry : AV |

(I've posted this elsewhere, so please excuse the duplication if you've seen it. Just really interested in a reply)
Just noted that our son's child passport expires Sept. '07.
Seems a long way off, I know.
However, with the new AV rules we can't apply for UK ILR in Feb '07 when we would have been able to under the 4-year rule. So, the one year extension to our AV will go beyond Sept. '07 and we will need to apply for a full (adult) passport for our son who is now 17 (hope I haven't lost everyone so far).
The SA High Commission is estimating 4 months for a passport to be issued. Suddenly Feb '07 doesn't seem so far off....
Question: Has anyone got experience with applying for an adult passport for a child who came over under a SA child passport as a dependant on AV? I'm interested to know if they return the child passport, because that contains the AV documentation which I'm sure UK Home Affairs will want to see.
Thanks
