  I've lost my luggage
Posted by: Pronkertjie - 21-06-2006, 04:50 PM - Forum: A little more personal - Replies (52)

I went to Scotland this weekend and flew back on Monday. My suitcase got lost somewhere between Glasgow and Luton!!

Ai jai jai.... hope they will find it. Had a funny conversation on the phone with one of the assistants of easyJet. I was given a leaflet saying I can claim Twenty Five Pounds a day for the first three days. When I asked her about it she said that I can't claim it because I am not on holiday but at home. I still had to go out and buy moisturiser, etc. but because I at home I can't claim the money. What difference does it make.

I am still waiting....

Quite funny that, I saw this story and was amazed by the headline, untill I read the context and realised that it was more sensationalist journalism trying to make news.

And then wondered how long it would take to appear as an item here Wink

Water Restrictions : Why are we still paying?
Posted by: Tania - 21-06-2006, 01:58 PM - Forum: A little more personal - Replies (5)

I guess many SAffers in the South-East are affected by our water restrictions. Knowing you lot can toi-toi and klipgooi and so on, please enlighten me why we are still paying fully but receiving a limited service?

Thames Water announced huge profits, whilst OFWAT confirmed water leaks at Thames Water equates to 70 liters per person per day.

Hell, if they did their jobs and repaired the leaks, I could have 280 liters of water per day extra. But NOOOOOOOOO. I must now pay for a Knysna-style luxury which resembles the Karoo, whilst Thames shareholders sip their bubbly.

I am stunned at the lack of organised campaigns against our H2O-extortionists. Wat nou?

So the Crows yawn when it is very hot ... so ...
Posted by: FlyingBok - 21-06-2006, 12:22 PM - Forum: Banter and ALL - Replies (2)

Is it the same with Budgies and Canaries ?

In Afrikaans we have the saying : " Dit is so warm die kraaie gaap"

Now per ongeluk I left my dear three sibblings outside and the wind blew their cover off them ... they where not singing but yawning the whole time.

After some serios cold water splashing of the wings and inside in front of the aircon - they where singing like ever ...:cloud9:

Can it be said to any bird then ?

Dis so warm FlyingBok's birds are :tired: ???

Cheers

  Currie cup in chaos
Posted by: mcamp999 - 21-06-2006, 12:04 PM - Forum: Rugby Newsfeed - Replies (3)

The 2006 Currie Cup has been thrown into turmoil 48 hours before it kicks off, as a Cape High Court battle looms tomorrow.

Legal papers have been served on SA Rugby demanding that the Southern Spears be reinstated in the competition, as well as in next year's Super 14, and that SA Rugby should continue to pay the costs of the franchise.

To those that remember the band, Sabre, Cape Town
Posted by: Cheffie - 21-06-2006, 01:02 AM - Forum: A little more personal - Replies (2)

Some of the Capie locals will recall a band called Sabre who used to play at La Med on Fridays and Sundays, as well as Dirty's in Hout Bay.

Heard a little earlier that one of their old band members, Jerome, was killed in a car accident earlier today.

Some of you might remember him as the guy with the magical voice (if you closed your eyes whilst listening to him sing Lighthouse Family 's High, it would sound identical).. the guy with the mike who'd stroll between the crowds and serenade with his voice.

I have many fond memories of racing home after service at the restaurants to catch the last set or 2 and hear this magnificent guy sing.

Jerome, you had the voice!

Thanks for all the great nights out in Hout Bay and allowing a little magic to soothe the night away in the melodies.

I hope your wife and daughter will take comfort in the thoughts of many around the world who will cherish the memories of hearing you on stage.

May you rest in peace and sing with the angels.

A sad ex-Hout Bay local
G
