  When I say "I am a Christian"
Posted by: penelope - 06-04-2005, 09:45 PM - Forum: Christian Faith Praise - Replies (1)

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I get lost"
"That is why I chose this way"

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak
and pray for strength to carry on

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
my flaws are all too visible
but God believes I'm worth it

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority
I only know I'm loved.

  Stepping Stones
Posted by: penelope - 06-04-2005, 09:38 PM - Forum: Christian Faith Praise - No Replies

The Lord came to me like a dream one day and asked, "why do you sorrow?"
I answered, "Lord my life is so full of pain, I can't face one more tomorrow."
The Lord sat down beside me, and gently took my hand.
He said, "Let me explain to you and then you'll understand.

Each sorrow is a stepping stone
you must surmount each day,
And every stepping stone you climb
is a sorrow that's passed away.

The road of life is a mountainside,
with crevices in which to be caught,
But as you struggle on your way,
I the Rock, will lend support.

Every stepping stone you climb,
makes spirit and heart grow strong.
Exercising character and faith
this road seems painful and long.

The way is paved with stepping stones,
to uplift your heart and soul,
Though difficult they aid your way,
to a City paved with gold.

I know that you are tired,
for I too have walked this way,
My sorrows did they multiply,
but I cleared many stones away.

I left my rock to lift you up,
I left behind my story.
To give you strength to make your climb,
to that special place in glory.

And never fear, the Rock is here,
You'll never climb this mountain alone
Surmount life's sorrows, continue on,
For they are but stepping stones.

SA Rock bands in Putney this Friday 8th!

SUNWAYS + TWEAK + NINE MILES WIDE
Friday 8 April
Halfmoon, Putney
93 Lower Richmond Rd, London, SW15
Gig starts 8:30

http://www.halfmoon.co.uk/gigs/sunways
http://www.sunwayslive.com

Sunways are an intense alt.rock trio from South Africa. While their explosive post grunge rock is enough to make the Vines shudder, there are some truly delicious atmospheric and romantic moments that recall Placebo and the mellower side of Smashing Pumpkins. The band formed March 1998 on sugar plantation in South Africa called "Sunways". They performed extensively throughout SA through 1998, and soon signed a deal with Tic Tic Bang. They became one of the biggest alternative bands in South Africa, developing a fantastic live reputation due to their high energy and crazy on-stage antics. They are now based in Ireland and are taking Europe by storm. One of the best live acts on the circuit, not to be missed.

Tweak have recently been exported to London permenantly follolwing a 6 year career in their home of South Africa that has earned them a large and loyal following. The power chord thrashing four piece embrace elements of nu-metal, EMO and classic rock that is sure to establish them as a serious rock contender in the capital, just as they were in SA.

Nine Miles Wide New up & coming rock band inspired by the classic rock of Led Zep, Guns 'n' Roses and other such delights.

  Simply Said
Posted by: penelope - 06-04-2005, 06:47 AM - Forum: Poetry and Inspirations - No Replies

Fresh flowers are such a lovely thing of beauty. Once in a while I pick a bouquet or a single perfect rose to give to a neighbor, friend or relative.

Early one morning I gathered a beautiful bouquet of sweet-smelling long-stemmed roses for myself. The roses were definitely a delight for my eyes. While I thought about how pleasing they were for me to enjoy, a calm, gentle voice outside of myself simply said, Give them to your friend.

I went straight into the house and arranged the roses in a vase. Then I wrote this note as small as I could....For my friend. I went across the street to my neighbor's, who is also one of my closest friends, and I left the bouquet at the front door.

Later that day my friend called to thank me. She said the flowers were a true blessing. Late the night before she had been arguing with one of her children. Being cruel, as teenagers can sometimes be, her child said to her, "You have no friends."

What a surprise when she went to leave for work that morning and found not just the blessings of the bouquet of flowers, but the tiny note which simply said, "For my friend."

  Norton AV 2004 Confusion
Posted by: Bean of Love - 04-04-2005, 06:50 PM - Forum: Your Computers, Gadgets and Software - Replies (8)

Ok... I am really confused.

I have Norton 2004 AV and Firewall installed on my laptop. I got a notice on it to renew my subscription...

A friend of mine suggested that I uninstall NAV and reinstall it, then the subs are good again for a year....

So, I did just that, but it still tells me that I have to renew my subs and now I have this bubble with Windows telling me that it isn't sure if I am protected or not.... Never had this &^*&^*%&^% bubble thing before.....even tho my NAV is activated.

What have I done?? :bigcry: :duh:

  Waiting Patiently
Posted by: penelope - 04-04-2005, 03:54 PM - Forum: Christian Faith Praise - Replies (1)

IÂ’ve heard people say; with that person I trust with all that I own,
Yet, they wonÂ’t trust in Jesus; so the way to them can be shown.

They trust another man, then cry when theyÂ’re deceived,
Yet, they trust not the Living God, the One in whom we can believe.

They walk with men of the world, being lead deeper into sin,
Still they shun the hand of Jesus, which has the power to win.

They cry out to the world, when theyÂ’re down and in their deepest need,
The world walks on by the cries of help they do not heed.

When all the time there stood Jesus waiting patiently,
To give eternal life and life more abundantly.
