SA birth certs. for UK passports

Just rang the British passport agency for advice in getting the kids their own child passports and was advised that after 3/5.4 they will only accept FULL SA birth certs-not the shortened ones so if anyone is in the same position as me then get your forms in quick! Smile

Military History - what are you reading
Posted by: PomBok - 12-03-2004, 04:59 PM - Forum: Your Hobbies, Flora and Fauna - Replies (4)

To kick off the military history threads, I wondered what MH you are currently reading or have recently read?

I am currently really enjoying Max Hastings' Overloard (ISBN 0-330-39012-0). It is a very balanced assessment of the D-Day landings and subsequent Battle of Normandy. What I like most is Hastings' pulls no punches in his assessment of the relative strengths and weaknesses of the Allied Armies and Commanders. Hastings also explodes some of the myths surrounding Montgomery's larger-than-life claims and the relative success of factors such as the Mulberry Harbours, PLUTO and the Battle of Cherbourg.

Good read as a Pan Grand Strategy series book at just £7.99

  Kingfisher
Posted by: Bushbaby - 12-03-2004, 09:57 AM - Forum: Fauna - Replies (1)

Leaving work last night, Aoife, one of my colleagues, spotted a patch of bright colour under a tree. On closer inspection it turned out to be a kingfisher. He was alive but stunned.

So we bundled him in a wool hat and parked him next to a heater for a few hours last night - he perked up very quickly and was released.

I wonder if the sleet brought him down or if he flew into something? This is the second bird we have found like this - the last one was a sparrowhawk. That one we also warmed up and set free.

Any ideas?

Okay to get this moving along quickly how about something we all know and perhaps would like and that would be a thriller:

I looked at Amazon and these were the top sellers:

1. No Second Chance - Harlan Coben

2. The Know ~ Martina Cole

3.The Long Walk ~Stephen King

4. The Face ~Dean Koontz

5. Any other suggestions - please add, lets get this bookclub off the ground!
