Baby names
#1
Before you all think the worst ................... IT IS NOT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!

A friend in SA is preggies and expecting a boy in March. (sister in law is also preggies - due the same time) so this is a question on thier behalf really.

Friend is English - Hubbie is Afrikaans - (very) and they are having trouble with names.

He wants Verwoed Nelson
She wants Kayne - nice spelling too!!

Now they want suggestions for some other names besides the normal - popular names - they are looking for the unusual I think.

Any suggestions peeps?? I have been to ask Jeeves and he gave me some nice ones but I wondered what other names there are to choose from.
I know there is another thread on names but they seem to be mainly female and I am looking for male.

My brother and his wife are naming thier baby Connor which is a lovely name.

I am also interested in the meaning of the names suggested.

Many thanks

XXXX

Please ask them not to give their child someone else's surname as a first name Smile
also what will the name sound like if it's shortened? (Can be embarrassing when the child grows up)

I like the original strong names like John and Peter, no-one seems to use them anymore and they're great. Thomas..
(John means grace of God and Peter means strong, a rock)

But if they want something more unusual..? There's always Zak and Ajax..Big Grin

A friend of mine named her son Caibien (the C being pronounsed as an S), my sons name is René.

But our second child will be chosen from the following:

Simone, Claudia, Sabina for a girl

André, Etienne, Markus, Johan for a boy...
*Doer of healing rituals and keeper of brooms.*

*Water flows, Wind blows, Fire glows, Earth grows, Magic shows.*

I have to agree with Jen on this one. No disrespect, Newborn, but I think that Verwoed Nelson & Kayne are both pretty revolting & I'd feel very sorry for any poor child stuck with either! Sick My gran had a Swedish father & ended up with a horrid name which made her miserable her entire life. My son's name is Daniel & if I have any more children, they'll also be given nice "normal" names.
