After our hi-jacking I had to apply for a new passport (I had also got married so it had to be in my new name).
I received it 15 days after my application went in.... And the secret? I asked for the Director General of Home Affairs Secretary. Got chatting to her and told her how serious it was and the dear girl followed up for me everyday. So some good things do happen at our Home Affairs. :worthy:

Then it was the Spouse Visa... Now there was a problem. When I was previously in the UK for 4 years on my now ex husbands ancestral visa, we separated and he came back after 2 years - I stayed on. Bad bad bad - it would appear as I was an 'illegal' for the next 2 years...

So I have had lots of phone calls from the consulate, lots of extra documents to supply... but yesterday I received my Spouse Visa.. HAPPINESS !!

We now leave SA next Wednesday and I must admit that I am now only beginning to get excited. The stress of the past few days is beginning to fade.

I have just about got rid of all that I have to, sorted out what must be packed and what must be given away etc and hopefully I will now just enjoy the next few days.

Today is my last day at work as well, so it is now chill out time !

Cant wait to get to the UK - just 5 sleepies more !!

Rand at worst level since 2003

I noticed over the past couple of weeks that it's been in a gradual decline and last night saw it had slipped way past the R14 to the £ mark.

Great for people travelling to SA but horrendous again for the South Africans living there.

Is the slide due to Zuma's case being thrown out of court or some other form of government bungle or is it a matter of the currency speculators having a field day like they did a few years ago when it fell to R20 to the £ ?

At the time of writing this and being on the phone it fell 5c!

  Katriena en Mevrou.....
Posted by: Pronkertjie - 21-09-2006, 03:08 PM - Forum: Praat Afrikaans - No Replies

:babyroll:

"Vertel my," se^ Mevrou, "ek weet alles daarvan af."

:haha:
